2nd house

The 2nd house rules everything you call YOURS: the money you earn through your own efforts, your possessions, your skills as monetizable assets, and — at a deeper level — what you actually value and what makes you feel secure. The sign on the 2nd-house cusp and any planets there describe your relationship to material reality. Venus in the 2nd loves comfort and accumulates beautiful things; Saturn in the 2nd treats money carefully and often experiences early scarcity that produces lasting discipline; Jupiter in the 2nd tends toward generosity and the assumption that resources will arrive. The 2nd house is distinct from the 8th (which rules shared and other-people's resources — partner's money, inheritance, debt). In medical astrology it rules the throat and neck.
