Opposition

An opposition occurs when two planets sit on opposite sides of the chart, 180 degrees apart. In aspect language, oppositions are typically classified as tense — the two energies pull against each other, demanding integration. But oppositions are more nuanced than 'tension': they fundamentally create AWARENESS. The opposition is where you SEE the other side. A Sun opposition Moon person has a clear, often-uncomfortable awareness of the gap between who they're trying to be (Sun) and what they actually feel (Moon) — but they also can't pretend the gap doesn't exist, which is the seed of integration. Full Moons happen at Sun-Moon oppositions and tend to bring exactly this quality: things that have been brewing become visible. Oppositions often manifest in relationships, where the 'other' carrying the opposite energy lets you see your own.
