Conjunction

A conjunction is the closest possible aspect: two planets at (or near) the same degree of the zodiac, within an orb of roughly 8 degrees. When two planets are in conjunction, their energies fuse and act together — for better and for worse, depending on the pair. Sun conjunct Moon is the New Moon configuration and produces someone whose conscious self and emotional self are strongly aligned. Venus conjunct Mars is the classic 'attractive force' configuration, fusing desire and pleasure. Saturn conjunct Mercury fuses discipline with thinking — producing careful, sometimes pessimistic communication. Conjunctions aren't inherently good or bad; they're concentrations of energy whose nature depends entirely on which planets are involved. The tighter the orb, the more pronounced the fusion: a 0.5° conjunction is dramatically louder than a 7° one.
