Imum Coeli (IC)
The Imum Coeli is the northernmost point of your chart — your roots, family of origin, private foundation, opposite the Midheaven.
The Imum Coeli — Latin for "bottom of the sky," abbreviated IC — is the lowest point of the chart and the cusp of the 4th house. It is the most private and grounded point in astrology: your roots, your family of origin, the psychological foundation you operate from, the home you carry inside you regardless of physical address. The sign on the IC and any planets near it describe the quality of your private foundation. A strong Moon near the IC produces someone whose home and family are deeply central; a Saturn on the IC often signals a heavy or restrictive early-life foundation that becomes (with work) a source of durable stability. The IC is the opposite of the Midheaven (MC): IC is the private root, MC is the public expression. Like the other angles, the IC requires a known birth time to compute.
