House
4th house
The 4th house rules home, roots, family of origin, and your inner foundation — the private base you operate from.
The 4th house begins at the Imum Coeli (IC) — the lowest point of the chart — and rules the most private dimensions of life: your home, your family of origin, your psychological foundation, your sense of belonging, and the emotional roots that shape everything above ground. The sign on the IC and any planets in the 4th describe your relationship to home and family. Moon in the 4th is deeply at home there (the Moon naturally rules this house). Saturn in the 4th often points to an early-life foundation that felt heavy or restrictive, requiring decades of work to build a different kind of base. The 4th is distinct from the 10th (career, public life): the 4th is the private, the 10th is the public. In medical astrology it rules the stomach and chest.
