Composite

A composite chart treats the relationship itself as a third entity — its own chart, its own Sun, Moon, and Rising.

A composite chart is constructed by combining two people's natal charts into a single new chart that represents the relationship as a third entity with its own astrological signature. Two methods exist: the MIDPOINT composite (averaging the longitudes of each pair of bodies) and the DAVISON composite (a real chart cast for the midpoint moment in time AND midpoint location between the two births — the only composite that is a "real" chart in the literal sense). The composite has its own Sun (the relationship's core drive), Moon (its emotional climate), and Ascendant (how it shows up in the world). Transits to the composite chart describe what's happening to the relationship itself — distinct from transits to either partner's natal chart. Useful for long-term partnerships, business relationships, and any pair whose bond has its own gravitational pull beyond the sum of two people.
