Calculation accuracy

What makes a birth chart accurate

The planets are calculated for an exact moment, while the Ascendant and houses also depend on the birthplace and local time. A wrong time zone or guessed clock time can shift the entire house structure.

This calculator uses the same ephemeris as the full app. The anonymous calculation is not written to our database; signup is optional and comes only after you see the result.

Start with the Sun, Moon, and rising sign: direction, emotional baseline, and how you meet the world.

Planets in signs

Each planet names a function; its sign describes the style through which that function operates.

Houses

Houses place chart themes into life areas. They require a reliable birth time and location.

Aspects

Free Birth Chart Calculator FAQ

What is a birth chart?

A birth chart, or natal chart, maps the zodiac positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, angles, and houses for your birth moment and place.

Do I need an exact birth time?

You can calculate planetary signs without one, but an exact time is needed for a dependable rising sign, house cusps, and placements by house.

What are the Big Three?

The Big Three are the Sun sign, Moon sign, and rising sign. They are a useful entry point, but they do not replace the rest of the chart.

Is this a tropical or sidereal chart?

This public calculator uses the tropical zodiac and the same default chart settings as The Astro Diary.

Are my birth details saved?

No. This anonymous calculation is not stored in the app database. Details are kept in the browser tab only if you choose to continue to signup.
